1. Product Composition

Phthalic anhydride is a white scaly or crystalline powder with a purity greater than 99.5%, and other impurities are free acids (including phthalide, citrate anhydride, o-toluic acid, etc.).

2. Product production process

Adopt o-xylene method production process: o-xylene is mixed with air, passes through the catalyst bed of the reactor, and reacts to generate phthalic anhydride and by-products. The mixed gas is captured by switching the condenser, and the tail gas is sprayed and absorbed by the water washing tower to be emptied. The captured phthalic anhydride material is processed through the continuous rectification process, and the qualified product enters the sheet packaging.

Application of Phthalic Anhydride

Phthalic anhydride is an important organic raw material, more than 60% is used in the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride plasticizers, 30% is used in polyester resins and alkyd resins, and the remaining 10% is used in dyes, medicines and pesticides.

1. Plasticizer: Phthalic anhydride reacts with two molecules of alcohol to form phthalates. As a plasticizer, it has good plasticity, compatibility, good gloss, and good thermal stability.

2. Unsaturated polyester resin: It is used for processing FRP and has a wide range of uses.

3. Alkyd resin: used for surface protection and decoration, as well as ink and adhesive.

4. Dyes and pigments: Phthalic anhydride is an important raw material for the manufacture of vat dyes, disperse dyes, reactive dyes and organic dyes.

5. Medicines and pesticides: raw materials for the manufacture of antibiotics, food additives (preservatives, saccharin), gastrointestinal medicines, sedatives, and disinfectant red mercury; used for the manufacture of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides.
