1. Phthalic anhydride and Polyols (such as glycerin, pentaerythritol) are polycondensated to form poly (aryl ester) resin, which is used in paint industry;
2. If it is polycondensated with ethylene glycol and unsaturated acid, unsaturated polyester resin is formed, which can be used to manufacture insulating paint and glass fiber reinforced plastics.
3. Phthalic anhydride is also a raw material for the synthesis of benzoic acid and terephthalic acid, and also used in drug synthesis.
